What is Cost Data


Cost data is the data which is used for following uses. Special cost data use to predict the cost of component or an item. It real means the forecasting of cost. Cost data can be use to compare the cost of various element in same project or same element in various projects. It means the comparison of cost. Another main usage of cost data is cost data from past projects can updated using building cost index for present or a future projects. By using the cost data balancing of cost can be done. Analyzing of cost trends can be done by using the cost data.

Cost Data of Electrical Installation

Therefore in here our group analysis the cost data of the “Electrical Installation”

In BCIS format, there are basically four types of Electrical Installations. They are

- Electric source and mains

- Electric power supplies

- Electric lighting

- Electric lighting fittings.

They identify Electrical source and mains as “All the work from external face of building up to and including local distribution boards including main switchgear, main and sub-main cables, control gear, power factor correction equipment, stand-by equipment, earthling, etc.” There can be built in systems (installation for electric heating), stand –by items. But under Electrical Installation those are not includes.

“All wiring, cables, conduits, switches from local distribution boards, etc and including outlet points (General purpose socket outlets, Services equipment, Disposal installations, Water installations, Heat sources, Space heating and air treatment, gas Installation, Lift and conveyor installation, Protective installation, Communication installation, Special installations)”

Electrical lighting includes all wiring, cables, and conduits. Switch, etc, from local distribution boards and fittings to and including outlet points. Electric lighting fittings include fixing.

The rates in general shall include for the following.

- All cutting, short lengths and include for the quantities.

- All joints in the running lengths and all connections

- All considerations arising from the specification

- All necessary conducts, cables, fittings, screws, nails, slips, brackets, junction boxes, straps, 3 core flexible cables, ceiling roses, GI chains, fan hooks and the like.

- Pipe sleeves through walls

- Assembling components.

- Cleaning off all protective wrappers and leaving ready for use.

- Leaving all equipment, etc, clean and in full working order.

- Draw wires in empty conduits

- Consulting and co – operating with other trades

- Provision of shop drawings and circuit diagrams including conduit layout drawings etc

- Labeling witches and distribution boards and other equipment

- Providing samples of switches and other fittings

- Submitting charts/list indicating the country of origin and performance of all equipment offered.
